Skukuza Golf Book Launch: Dawie the Dassie’s Great Adventure
Supporting Wildlife Conservation at the SANParks Honorary Rangers Golf Day – Skukuza, 29 August 2025
South Africa’s wildlife comes to life in a powerful new way with the launch of Dawie the Dassie’s Great Adventure — a heartfelt children’s book written by physiotherapist and animal rescuer Lesley Meyer.
The official launch will take place at the SANParks Honorary Rangers Golf Day in Skukuza on 29 August 2025, where guests can purchase a copy for R250, meet the author in person, and hear the true rescue story that inspired the book.
For every book sold, R50 will be donated to SANParks to support wildlife protection and conservation efforts across South Africa. Dawie the dassie — a bold, indigenous character — sets the perfect tone for this exciting event.
The day will also feature a preview of Lesley’s upcoming release, Tom the Tenacious Tortoise, spotlighting one of the “Little Five” hidden in the Kruger bushveld. These books are more than stories — they are conservation tools, crafted to inspire a love for nature in the next generation.

Lesley Meyer is a physiotherapist by profession and a passionate animal lover. After rescuing and rehabilitating numerous wild animals, she began writing children’s books that share the magic of South Africa’s indigenous creatures, wrapped in themes of courage, kindness, and environmental awareness.
