🎶 Auditmares – A Song Born of Forensic Fire

As part of my Master’s research project on physiotherapists’ experiences of forensic audits by South African medical funding schemes, I was encouraged to present my findings creatively.

Now, when your data screams, your heart breaks, and your voice cracks under pressure, what better way to process the madness than... through music?

Introducing Auditmares – a musical retelling of what it feels like to be a dedicated health professional caught in the crosshairs of a system that often audits first and asks questions later.

What’s it about?
Fear. Confusion. Shame. And a bizarre sense that you’re part of a game show no one signed up for. The lyrics highlight the emotional and professional toll of being audited, where accountability often feels one-sided, and fairness is a distant echo.

🎤 A note about the vocals...
Due to the stress of being intrinsically involved in the topic, my voice is no longer quite pitch-perfect. So yes, it might sound a bit like someone gently interrogating a cat with a kazoo—but that’s part of the charm, right?

Why music?
Because research doesn’t only belong in journals. It belongs in hearts, voices, and, if necessary, mildly off-key choruses.
